The Mermaid's Song

I place the shell upon my ear,

The mermaid’s song for I shall hear.

The whistling waves caress her tail

And silently she begins to wail:

Oh pity thee my humble home,

Whose beauty lies beneath the foam.

For man has placed his careless hand

To poison sea and golden sand.

The fish choke with the plastic weed,

With bottles and paper they cannot feed.

Dolphins, seals and whales they cry.

They fear that they are doomed to die.

How foolishly man lays the path

For death and destruction the aftermath.

Where poison and pollution dwell,

There is no life, but living hell.

Oh hear my cry and change my fate,

Respect my home, it’s not too late.
