The Journey

The night is long as I lay awake,

And I think of the days ahead;

And while he breathes with heavy sleep,

The excitement fills my head.

For chance had knocked upon my door,

I knew not what would transpire.

There were many hurdles to overcome,

And fulfil my heart’s desire.

My mind was clouded with fears and doubts,

My body was wrought with pain;

But slowly I saw my impossible dream,

And the pleasure I would gain.

Determination gave me strength

To clear the doubts and fears;

To free myself from the stranglehold

That poisoned all the years.

I nurtured my body with greater care,

The pain I could no longer feel;

And though the danger lurks nearby,

The wounds begin to heal.

The time is near, my journey awaits,

As I seek to fulfil my goal;

And I will be true to my heart’s desire,

And satisfy my soul.
