The Sun

I peered through my window as I lay in bed, the sky looked so inviting.

The bright sun shone its rays at me, in a manner warm and exciting.

It lured me out of my cosy bed to the splendour of the day;

to see my smiling garden patch, and my flowers that looked so gay.

Everything seems to come to life when the sky is cobalt blue;

the birds appear from nowhere as they sing their songs in cue.

A crisp perfume wafts through the air, leaving strong the heart's desire,

to walk a long and endless walk, and see what will transpire.

so I donned my coat and walking shoes, and left my house behind,

and set upon my nice long trek, and searched for peace of mind.

I went past many houses that I'd never seen before;

high brick walls, and picket fences, and the odd colonial door.

Though I had driven past this route, my eyes they could not see;

but now I've finally quit the race, and I have been set free.
